Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of Victoria

 28th Championship Show
(Photos, Results & Critiques )

Sunday 12th March 2005

JUDGE: Mrs Barbara Marsh (Neworder)

One of the highlights of judging dogs is to be asked to do the specialty show of your own breed in your own home state, and this has especially been the case for me.  The first class, of course was Baby Puppy Dog. Baby Puppy classes are always interesting; you are always hoping to find some promising up and coming star of the future.

I think our Staffords on the whole are going along the right way. I did not mention mouths as a greater majority were of no concern. I do however think that more emphasis should be placed on toplines and hindquarters, which would result in sounder moving dogs. The standard does call for an active, agile dog with discernible hind movement. An essential for the purpose for which these dogs were originally bred.

As I have said in the outset, this has been a marvelous experience for me, and as per usual the club put on a top show. And another thing not to be forgotten was the wonderful lunch put on of gourmet type preparation, well done and thank you.    Barbara Marsh
